Prince Rama Varma's workshop; Chennai
A two day Carnatic music workshop will be held on June 14th & 15th in Chennai by vocalist and vainika Prince Rama Varma. The camp will be at 4th Floor, 'Ananda', 7, Bhaskarapuram, Mylapore, Chennai. Prince Rama Varma will teach compositions of various vaggeyakaras and provide participants a general orientation on techniques for developing Raga Alapana and Swaram singing abilities. The Music Academy course: admission open
Admissions are open for the one-year course - Advanced Diploma in Carnatic Music (Vocal) - conducted by The Music Academy. Duration: 3 years with 2 semesters every year, From mid July to November end and from mid-January to June end Classes are held from Monday thru Friday - 8 am – 12:30 pm Eligibility : Applicants should have minimum educational qualification of +2 (successfully completed) Age: 18 to 35 years Applicants should be able to sing varnams and kritis with knowledge of Manodharma Sangita. Applicants should send their bio-data giving full details of their musical training. Shortlisted applicants will be called for an interview by the Academic Council. Dance contest featuring Pasuram and Tirupugazh
ABHAI, the Association of Bharatanatyam Artistes of India, is organising a competition featuring Pasuram and Tirupugazh in Bharatanatyam, on Sunday 29 June 2014 at Bharat Kalachar in Chennai. The competition categories are solo and group, junior and senior for both Pasuram and Tirupugazh Participants who have already registered to report at the venue at 2 pm and the competition will commence at 3 pm. Rasikas are welcome to watch the performances. The prize winners will get an opportunity to perform at the ABHAI Annual Day celebrations to be held on 3 August this year.
