Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music (SAM) based some 90kms south of Chennai will be hosting a two-day camp on Indian Music over two days through master classes, workshops and performances by a host of accomplished Indian musicians.
In conjunction with the 10-week Indian Music Certificate offered at Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music, this two-day camp will introduce participants to the essence of Indian music with SAM's Indian Music faculty who will give people a feel of what you can expect in the 10-week certificate course.
This camp will foster an appreciation of Indian music art forms featuring Violin, Mridangam, Sitar and Tabla
The faculty includes Dr. M. Lalitha (Dean of Indian Music Program) Sreyas Narayanun (Carnatic Voice faculty) Umayalpuram Mali (Carnatic percussion faculty) and Dr. S. Karthick (Carnatic rhythm faculty)
The guest faculty has Ustad Shujaat Khan – Grammy nominated sitar player of the Imdadkhani gharana, Pandit Tanmoy Bose, India’s best-known tabla virtuoso, vidwan Thiruvaarur Bakthavathsalam, an accomplished mridangist based in Chennai and P. Unnikrishnan – award winning playback singer, who is a trained Carnatic singer.
