Senior Bharatanatyam dancer Malavika Sarukkai and her arts promotion body called 'Kalavaahini' is hosting a three-day classical dance fest at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore from Dec.27 to 29, featuring two senior and well known artistes every evening.
One has not seen a fully-packed and spilling auditorium for the annual Natya Kala Conference hosted by Sri Krishna Gana Sabha in a nook of T. Nagar. But this was the scene as the conference on classical dance opened a shade after 1.20 p.m. on December 26, to unfold five days of talks, lec-dems and dance recitals.
Padmavati - An Avatar is a solo operatic theme production based on stories of a temple dancer, who is at the centre of 'Gita Govindam' by poet Jayadeva. Sringara rasa is the sensual thread of this love poem that is woven around Padmavati and Jayadeva.
