MFAC Dance festival from Dec. 1

The Mylapore Fine Arts Club hosts 10days dance festival this year, commencing from Dec. 1.

Bharathanatyam concerts will be held every day at 5.45pm and 7.15pm at 45, Musiri Subramaniam Salai, Mylapore. Chennai.

On Dec.1, dance recitals of Sarayu Sai and Mathangi Ravishankar will be held.

On Dec. 2, at 6.45 pm Mahalakshmi Ladies group will present 'NRI Wedding'. Dec. 3, Naviya Natarajan and Abhirami Subramanian. will perform.

Dec. 4, dance recitals of Srinidhi Sundar and Swapna Sreedharan will be held. On Dec. 5, Sruthi Radhakrishnan and Padmini Krishnamurthy will dance.

Dec. 6, Malathy and Ramya Rajesh Kumar will perform. Varsha Kumar and Sudha Radhakrishnan will be featured on Dec.7.

On Dec. 8, Sankari 's performance forllowed by a duet Lata and Geeta. Dec. 9, Prasanna Thothadri will perform and on the concluding day Dec. 10, Sumithra Subramanian and Radica Giri will perform.

Hindustani Sitar concert

Pandit Janardan Mitta, disciple of renowned Sitar maestro Pandit Ravishankar will perform Hindustani Sitar concerts in Chennai during this season. He plays in the Maihar gharana displaying nuances of the Gayaki and Tantrakari techniques of instrumental music. Mitta is the first Hindustani musician to have performed at the Thyagaraja Aradhana Festival at Tiruvaiyyaru in 1976.

He performs at Raga Sudha Hall, Mylapore on Dec. 3 at 6.30pm, at Sivagami Pethachi Auditorium, Mylapore on Dec. 4 at 6pm, at the auditorium of Meenakshi College for Women, Kodambakkam on Dec. 6 at 11am, at Narada Gana Sabha Mini Hall on Dec. 23 at 6pm, at Youth Hostel, Indira Nagar on Jan. 6, 2007 at 6pm.

There will be a jugalbandhi of Pandit Janardan Mitta and Chandrasekhar, accompanied by Chandrajith on tabla and Umayalpuram Mali on mridangam at the Music Academy Mini Hall on Dec. 8 at 7.30pm.
