Sangita Kalanidhi for T. N. Seshagopalan

The Music Academy will be conferring the title Sangita Kalanidhi on the senior vocalist T. N. Seshagopalan this year. He will be presiding over the Academy's 80th annual conference to be held from December 15 to January 1.

The other awards that will be conferred during the 80th conference are: Sangita Kala Acharya on senior dancer C. V. Chandrasekhar and vocalist Seetha Rajan. TTK awards on A. Kanyakumari (violin) and Padmavathy Ananthagopalan (veena); Vaggeyakara award on vocalist - guru Suguna Purushothaman.

The above awards will be conferred at the 'Sadhas' on conclusion of the conference on January 1, 2007

Tamil Isai Sangam award for Bombay Sisters

The Tamil Isai Sangam has chosen the Bombay Sisters to receive its Isai Perarignar Award for 2006. The sisters, C. Saroja and C. Lalitha, are known for their musical concerts on the Thiruppugazh, Thiruppavai, Thiruvembavai and Divyaprabhandam.

The award will be presented at a ceremony to be held at Raja Annamalai Hall on December 21, the inaugural day of the 64th edition of the Tamil music festival of the Sangam.

The award will consist of a gold medal, a silver citation and a cash prize.

MFAC honours dancer Chitra Visweswaran

The Mylapore Fine Arts Club will honor Bharatanatyam dancer Chitra Visweswaran with the title Nritya Kala Nipuna.

The function takes place at MFAC Auditorium on December 13, 2006.

Annual awards by The Indian Fine Arts Society


The sabha will confer the award 'Sangeetha Kalashikhamani' on senior vocalists Bombay Sisters - C. Saroja and C. Lalitha at the inaugural function of annual music festival on Dec.16
Dancer Revathy Ramachandran will receive the award 'Natya Kalashikhamani' for this year.

Bharat Kalachar announces awards for 2006

Bharat Kalachar has announced the awards for this year.
`Gnana Kala Bharathi' will be conferred on veteran dancer Vyjayanthimala Bali for dance and on Bombay Sisters - C. Saroja and C. Lalitha for music;
The awrad `Viswa Kala Bharathi' will be conferred on dancers Sudharani Raghupathy, V. P. Dhananjayan and Shantha Dhananjayan;

Stage and film actor Sowcar Janaki and Poornam Viswanathan will receive the award `Natya Kaladhar' ;
`Kala Seva Bharathi' will be recieved by 'Isai Mazhalai' Ramjhi and Roja Kannan;
The script writer Vietnam Veedu Sundaram and stage actor 'Typist' Gopu will receive the award 'Nataka Kala Bharathi'

Thw award `Yuva Kala Bharathi' for young artistes go to M. Balamuralikrishna, Chinmaya Sisters - Uma and Radhika in the vocal category, G. Ramesh (nagawaram), Nagamani Raju (mandolin), Shertalai Sivakumar (violin), K. V. Gopalakrishnan (mridangam), Bangalore Amrith (kanjira), Lavanya Ananth, R. Vineet, Nritya Jagannathan and Anwesha Das (bharatanatyam), S. Divyasena (all-rounder in bharatanatyam, nattuvangam and choreography) and Nagalakshmi (dramatics).
The awards will be conferred on the inauguration of Margazhi Mahotsav on Dec.15

'Isai Peroli' for Malladi Brothers

This year's Isai Peroli award goes to Malladi Brothers (vocal), Nadanamamani title will be recieved by Bhargavi gopalan.
The sabha's title Tamil Isai Vendar will be conferred on senior vocalist D. K. Pattammal.
The awards for the youngsters will be received by K. Gayathri for music and Aswini Viswanathan for dance.

D. K. Pattammal award for excellence goes to young musician (Master) Balamuralikrishna. The 'Kartik' Rajagopal Best organizer award will be given to R.Yegnaraman, secretary, Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Chennai.
Sirkazi Govindarjan Memorial award will be received by senior violinist Sikkil Bhaskaran

The awards and titles will be conferred on the artistes during the annual music and dance festival to be held during December / January.

Sri Rama Bhakthqa Jana Samaj , K.K.Nagar will be conferring the title Sangita Maamani on the eminent violinist . Kunnakudi R.Vaidhyanathan on its 10th annual music festival to be held from December 17, 2006

Brahma Gana Sabha awards for the year 2006

During the December Art Festival of Brahma Gana Sabha, this year, the title, Gaana Padhmam will be receive by mridangam maestro Umayalpuram Sivaraman. Dancer- guru Prof. Sudharani Raghupathy will receive the title 'Naatya Padhman'. Senior drama artist Koothapiran will receive the title 'Naataka Padhmam'

Sangeetha Kala Sarathy for Sanjay Subrahmanyan

Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha will confer the title Sangeetha Kala Sarathy on Sanjay Subrahmanyan this year. The award will be conferred on the day of inauguration of their 106th annual music festival on Dec. 16.
