Sruthilaya Kendra organises Winter Music Festival

Mridangam maestro Guru Kaaraikkudi Mani and his niece Rajeswari Sainath run the arts organisations Sruthilaya Kendra and Sruthilaya Kendra Natarajaalaya, based in Mandaveli. The organisations having their centres at Bangalore, Secunderabad, U. K and Australia are hosting a three day winter music festival from Dec. 14 to 16, at Asthika Samajam, Venus Colony, Alwarpet.

Vidwan T. K. Govinda Rao will be presented the Guru Surajananda Award this year. Bharatanatyam exponent Leela Samson will receive the Gowri Manohari Award. The awards will be presented at the inauguration of the festival on Dec. 14 at 5.30 pm. A mridangam tani avarthanam concert - Sun and the Rays - by Guru Kaaraikkudi Mani and his disciples will follow the award ceremony.

On Dec. 15, vocal concert of Neyveli Santhanagopalan will be held at 4.15pm followed by devotional music concert by Pithukuli Murugadass and party at 6.30 pm.

On Dec. 16, T. M Krishna will perform a vocal concert at 4.15 pm. This will be followed by a vocal duet of Ranjani and Gayathri.

An entry fee of Rs. 15 will be charged each day. The organisers say that the amount so collected will go to an aged senior musician.
