Papanasam Sivan and other composers - thematic concerts
Papanasam Ashok Ramani, grandson of the famed composer Papanasam Sivan has been closely looking at his grandfather's compositions while he was singing kritis by many other composers. The striking similarity in theme, the deities they have worshipped through music and the holy shrines referred by the composers. He has now come out with a series of thematic concerts with kritis of Papanasam Sivan and other concerts grouped themewise.
The first in the series 'Gopalakrishna Bharatiyum and Papanasam Sivanum' will be held on behalf of Kartik Fine Arts at Dakshina Murthy Auditorium tomorrow at 5pm.
The other concerts in the series are:
Syama Sastriyum Papanasam Sivanum on Dec.22 for The Indian Fine Arts Society at Balamandir German Hall at 5pm .
Papanasam Sivanum and Trinity - Lec-dem for Saraswathi Vaggeyakara Trust at Narada gana Sabha Mini Hall at 9.30am on Dec. 24.
An exclusive concert on Papanasam Sivan's compositions on the deity, Karpagambal will be held for Valayapatti Nadalaya at AVM Rajeswari Kalyana Mandapam on Dec. 28 at 4.30pm.
Papanasam Sivanum Annamalai Sivakumariyum at Tamil Isai Sangam, Raja Annamalai Hall at 10am on Dec.29.
Thyagarajarum and Papanasam Sivanum on Dec. 30 for Narada Gana Sabha.
