Book on Dance history

Prof. Raghuraman who is the most sought after resource person for the dance fraternity is releasing a book ' Thamizhar Nadana Varalaru' at the Kalakshetra auditorium on Dec. 25, at 9.40 am.

This book will be of use to all Bharathanatyam dancers, as he has traced the History of Tamil's dance with references from the Tamil Literature from the time dance was in its crude form till the present form that is seen. He has not only taken references from various literatures like Silapadikaram, Prabandham but also from the grammar like Panchamarabu. One of the strongest point that he has stressed on is that Bharatha's Natyasastra should have been a translation from the Tamil Literature and that Tamil literature has spoken about dance before the Sanskrit Literature.

The book will be released by V. P. Dhananjayan and the first copy will be recieved by Leela Samson and Prof. C. V. Chandrasekar. Dancer Lakshmi Ramaswamy will be presenting a programme taking songs from the various literature before the release of the book.
