This has been a standard. And a good one too.

To recognise young artistes who are making a mark.

And that is what Bharat Kalachar and its founder, Ms Y G Parthasarathy does best.

The opening evening of this sabha's fest turns the spotlight on a bunch of young people. Though, seniors from various fields of the performing arts are also decorated.

From Prasanna Venkatraman and Vidya Kalyanaraman to Sruthi Sagar and Akkarai Sornalatha and dancers Nanditha Neroor ( who have overcome a huge illness to present many recitals) and Pavitra Bhat of Mumbai, these and their colleagues were decorated with the Yuva Kala Bharathi awards.

The big award, Gnana Kala Bharathi was given to Dr, Balamuralikrishna who made a rare appearance.

The Governor of Andhra Pradesh was the chief guest.

Concerts are held at this space on T. Nagar's Thirumalai Road till January 9, 2011
