Celebrating Indian arts in U.S.A

 

Ragamala and Pratidhwani present 'Utsav 2004' a celebration of Indian Performing Arts in America, October 7 ­ 10, 2004 at venues East and West of Lk. Washington, U.S.A.

The fest features performances and workshops by local artistes in Hindustani and Carnatic vocal music, Bharatanatyam and Odissi, light and folk music, drumming and puppetry.

Guest artistes include Tripti Mukherjee ­ Hindustani Vocal, Madurai Sundar ­ Carnatic Vocal, Reecha Tripathi ­ light classical music, Homnath Upadhyaya ­ tabla and Nepali folk drumming, M. Lakshman ­ mridangam and Gargy Banerjee ­ Odissi.

A feature film on tabla maestro Zakir Hussain will also be screened.

This festival is produced in collaboration with: Seattle Art Museum, Tasveer Films, Urvasi Arts, Northwest Puppet Theater, Sadhana School of Arts, Prabha Rustagi Memorial Trust, UW Ethnomusicology Program, People for Progress in India, Child Relief and You, Asha for Education and Chaya.
