Honours for T.M. Thiagarajan 
Senior carnatic vocalist T.M. Thiagarajan was honoured with the 'Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar Memorial award' of Rs. 1 lakh on September 30 in Madras.

The award was presented by the Union Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, S. Thirunavukarasar.

Speaking on the occasion, the patron of the Rajah Sir Annamali Chettiar Memorial Trust, M.A.M. Ramaswamy said that Thiagarajan was chosen for his lifetime service to the cause of Tamil music.

Thiagarajan, former Principal of the Govt. College of Music in Madurai has authored about ten books on Thamizh music.
