Ganakokila Prema Ramamurthy Felicitated

Prema Ramamurthy an outstanding Carnatic vocalist was honoured by Chaitanya Arts, at a special function held at Harihara Kala Bhavanam in Secunderabad in early November 2003. Chaitanya Arts in cooperation with MNR Educational Trust was conducting their annual programme 'Kalaa Kiranalu', at twenty six auditoria all over the twin cities of Hyderabad / Secuderabad.

Prema was a child prodigy, and was trained under the careful guidance of Padma Vibhushan Dr. Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna. Prema Ramamuthy toured U.S.A. with Dr. Balamuralikrishna in 2000, on his Annamayya project. Earlier she gave performances in all the five continents and Australia.

In India, she has performed extensively both in Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh, including prestigious institutions such as The Music Academy, South India Cultural Association of Hyderabad and Kalasagaram of Secunderabad.

In a career spanning over four decades, Prema Ramamurthy received several honours and titles, some of them being "Sangeeta Saraswati" from Madurai Sadguru Sangeeta Sabha and 'Ganakokila' from Kalarajyam in Hyderabad.

Prema Ramamurthy is a 'A' grade artiste of the All India Radio and Doordarshan.
