| Prof. Sudharani Raghupathy's special birthday... |   |

| Dance Guru Sudharani Raghupathy turned 60 last week. And her sishyas at Shree Bharatalaya surprised her on this special occasion. At an in-house event at their dance school in Mylapore, the students wished their guru on screen! Yes, birthday messages from each student of the institution, from the 6-year olds to the seniormost, were video recorded and these messages were interspersed in a special documentary that spanned the dance career of their guru. And b'day messages included those from her mom Shakuntala Jagannath, her husband Raghupathy, her Guru Vidwan Madurai N. Krishnan, arts promoter Mrs. Y.G. Parthasarathy, her close friends Sita Chidambaram, Akila and all the workers at her home in Mylapore, Chennai.
Messages from her grandchildren and her students from the U.S., Australia and elsewhere (sent
by e-mails) were also screened. The sishyas also presented their guru with 61 different gifts.
And for Sudharani, it was an emotional evening... |
