The International Dance Council (CID) is a non-profit non-governmental organization founded in 1973
within the UNESCO headquarters. It is a worldwide forum bringing together international, national and
local organizations as well as individuals active in dance.
CID is involved in the preparation of a Global Dance Directory. It treats all kinds of dance in all
countries on an equal basis. Its objective is to include 100,000 addresses from 200 countries. 70,000
addresses have been gathered so far. Indian classical dancers are invited to send their addresses (performers, dance teachers, groups, schools, organisations). These will be included in the directory free of charge.
This is a strictly non-commercial project, and aims to serve the world dance community.
The dance ensembles, schools or persons listed are expected to have more chances to be invited to
international festivals and conferences.
