Bharat Kalachar will hold its 18th 'Margazhi Mahotsav' fest of music and dance from December 10, 2004 at the sabha's Y.G.P. auditorium in T. Nagar, Chennai. The fest will be inaugurated by well known musician Dr. L. Subramaniam, who will also be honoured with the award of 'Viswa Kala Bharathi' for his service in the field of fine arts abroad.
Bharat Kalachar presents the 'Yuva Kala Bharathi' award in recognition of talent in the field of classical music and dance to the following young artistes: Madurai T.N.S. Krishna (vocal), Charulatha Mani (vocal), B. Muthukumar (flute), T. Bhavani Prasad (veena), U.P. Raju (mandolin), Delhi Sairam (mridangam), U.N. Giridhar Uduppa (ghatam), T.J. Sourirajan (thavil), Anusha Narendra, Ranjith Babu (Bharatanatyam), Sukanya Ravindhar (all rounder in Bharatanatyam, nattuvangam, choreography), Absar (dramatics).
The title of 'Kala Seva Bharathi' will be conferred on art critic Nandini Ramani.
The sabha also honours actor Kathadi Ramamurthy, lyricst Vairamuthu, singer S. Janaki and villupattu artiste Subbu Arumugam.
The inauguration will be followed by a violin recital by Dr. L Subramaniam on December 10.
