| Visakha Music Academy conducted their monthly concert on 23 February with a vocal recital by Mysore Nagamani Srinath.
The programme started with the Thyagaraja keerthana 'Shiva Shiva' in panthruvarali. Some of the other compositions featured were 'Amma Raavamma', ragam tanam pallavi in Shanmugapriya, dasarathi sathakams and ended with the tillana, her own composition in the rare raga Vaasantham.
She was accompanied by Nagalakshmi on mridangam, M. Sridhar on ghatam and Kokonada Subramanya Sarma on the violin. Visakha Music Academy has been hosting Carnatic music concerts every month, without any break, since 1969. The Academy hosts an annual festival in November-December. Last year (2004), M. Chandrasekhar and Yella Venkateswara Rao were honoured during this festival. A mini festival to encourage young talent is being planned in June. Contact: M.S.
