Dancer Ananda Shankar Jayant presented ‘Darshanam - An ode to the Eye’, a specially commissioned programme for the LV Prasad Eye Insitute in Hyderabad, recently. It was premiered to mark the Indo-American collaboration on eye research.

The production explored the myriad hues of the depiction of the eye in Indian literature, featuring verses from Kalidasa, AdiSankara, Surdas, Bhagavad Gita and Tamil poetry. The production also conveyed a message on eye donation.

Choreographed in the Bharatanatyam format, Ananda performed along with her dancers of Shankarananda Kalakshetra - Madireddi Mamatha, Manjula Dorairaj, Arati Ballepu and Radhika Tirumala .
