Ramnavami Festivals in Bangalore
By KutcheriBuzz Staff/ Bangalore

This is perhaps Bangalore's December season!

Chennai's season of thousands of music and dance concerts in December during the month of Margazhi is world famous. But in Bangalore, similar festivals of music take place during the Ramnavami celebrations in this garden and IT city and all over the state of Karnataka in south India.

It is that time of the year when independent organisations club the religious rites with Carnatic music kutcheris. And these festivals have multiplied over recent years.

So much so that the first of the festivals will begin this weekend (when the Ugadi fest will be celebrated) and the rest will follow soon.

The festivals will go on till May. Oh yes, some organisations have concerts for over 30 days. At some popular venues, the pandals are full. And these pandals overflow when rasikas are attracted by big names in the music world.

The likes of M. S. Subbulakshmi and Balamuralikrishna have sung at these festivals. And this year, the Ramnavami festivals promise to be as colourful as they have always been. And they will have all the big stars and the young ones too.
