The 37th music conference, as part of the centenary year celebrations of The Bangalore Gayana Samaja, was held from 12 June 2005 in Bangalore.
It was inaugurated by Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji of Suttur Mutt. M.V. Rajashekaran, Union Minister of State, presided.
Experts sessions, featuring technical aspects of music, were held in the mornings. The theme of the conference was 'Vainika Gayaka Dharma'. Senior musician Madurai T.N. Seshagopalan presided over the sessions.
At the Sadas held on 19 June, the 'Centenary Year Special Honour' was conferred on S.M. Krishna, Governor of Maharshtra and former Chief Minister of Karnataka, in recognition of his service to fine arts .
This was presented by Vishveshathirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt.
The title of 'Sangeetha Kalaratna' was conferred on T.N. Seshagopalan
Dr. V.V. Srivatsa (musicologist), P. Sundaresan (vocal), Shakuntala Narasimhan (Carnatic and Hindustani vocal), Geetha Ramanujam (Play Production), B.K. Chandramouli (kanjira) and P.G. Srinivasa Murthy (art -critic) were honoured as 'Artists of the Year'.
