The Thirty Eighth Music Conference of Bangalore Gayana Samaja is scheduled to be held from Sunday 13th August to Sunday 20th August, in bangalore, both days inclusive.

Mysore V. Subramanya, senior arts critic and musicologist has been unanimously elected conference president..

The inauguration is on Sunday, 13th August at 10am. Experts sessions featuring technical subjects on music, will be inaugurated on Monday 14th August at 10am by Dr.V.V.Srivatsa, Secretary, The Music Academy, who will also deliver the key note address.

The theme of the conference is "Karnatakada Vaggeya Vaibhava" (Splendour of Compositions of Karnataka Composers).

The senior and eminent composers selected for this conference are Mysore Sadashiva Rao, Veena Seshanna, Mysore Vasudevachar, Muthaiah Bhagavatar and Jayachamaraja Wodeyar - all of them were Asthans Vidwans of erstwhile Mysore Palace.

The artistes delivering Lec/Dems on their compositions are Dr. R.K.Srikantan, Mysore V.Subramanya, S.Rajaram, Madurai T.N.Seshagopalan and Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar respectively.

The other subjects in the experts sessions are Aesthetics in Music (Bombay Jayashri Ramnath), Face to Face with Umayalpuram K.Shivaraman (Questions and Answers session), Music in Dance (Dr.Maya Rao), Lakshya and Lakshana in Karnatic Music (T. M. Krishna), Ganapathi in Music (M.S.Sheela) and Pada and Javali (Dr.Nagamani Srinath).

Mysore V.Subramanya, Conference President, will preside.

Music concerts daily in the evening from 13th August will be by Kadri Gopalnath, Bombay Jayashri Ramnath, Madurai T.N.Seshagopalan, Kumaresh and Jayanthi (Veena-Violin Samvada), R.K.Padmanabha, T.M.Krishna, T.V.Shankaranarayanan and on Sunday 20th August, Sridhar and Anuradha Sridhar will present Bharatanatyam. All the artists will include compositions of composers (highlighted in Experts Sessions) in their programmes.

Sadas, valedictory session, will be held on Sunday 20th August in the morning at 10am. Sri.Mysore V.Subramanya, Conference President, will be conferred the title "Sangeetha Kalaratna".

Artistes who will be honoured as "Artists of the Year" for their contribution to music will be B.N.V.Subramanya (Promotion of Fine Arts), S.Rajaram(Dance & Music), M.Prabhakar (Sugama Sangeetha), R.Paramashivan(Stage Music), Kaveri Sridhar(Choral Music), Kanaka Swamy(Vocal), Rudrapatnam Bros (Vocal), Geetha Ramanand (Veena), S.Nataraja Murthy (Violin), B.N. Chandramouli (Khanjira).
