Dance guru S. K. Kameswaran passed away

Guru S. K. Kameswaran, possibly the seniormost classical dance nattuvanar in the city, passed away on July 20.
He was 78 years old and lived on Bazaar Lane, off Bazaar Road, Mylapore. Chennai.
Born at Madurai in a nattuvanar parampara, Kameswaran was a student of Vaitheeswaran Koil Mahadeva Pillai.
Kameswaran came to Chennai in 1945. People like Padmini Ramachandran, Manjula Vijayakumar, Jyothilakshmi, Jayamalini and Kuchalakumari were his students at the Mahalakshmi Natyalaya school he ran in Mylapore, Chennai.
MGR presented him the 'Kalaimamani' award.
His daughter, dancer K. Mahalakshmi, and dancer G. Narendra run the Avigna Dance Ensemble
