Dance workshops in Kerala
 

Nrityalaya in Kerala is hosting an intensive dance workshop from April 1 to 5, at its institution Kozhikode. Two eminent dancers/teachers of Bharatanatyam will conduct the workshop. They are Roja Kannan, a senior disciple of Adyar K.Lakshman and Padmabhushan and of guru Kalanidhi Narayan and Priya Murle, a senior disciple of Prof. Sudharani Raghupathy.

Dancer - teacher Srikanth who runs this academy says this is a micro-workshop and the two exponents of dance will be in Calicut for a few days. The dancers will also present a performance on 4th April at 6.30pm at Nrityalaya Main Hall, Chembakathazam Parambha, Chalappuram, Kozhikode, Kerlala.

The workshop has been organized for a select number of students who have been chosen based on their merit and interest level.

Lasya College of Music and Dance, Kerala is also hosting a gurukulam-styled camp for young dancers at its lush campus in Pilathara in Kannur District from May 16 to 30.

Latha Edavalath is the Principal at Lasya and Professor of Bharathanatyam. She is holds a post graduate degree in Bharathanatyam. She mastered the dance forms Bharathanatyam, Mohiniattam and Kuchupudi at Kerala Kalamandalam. She has composed, choreographed and staged several dance dramas. She is recipient of many awards.

Latha says that this Gurukulam camp is open to dance students in India and abroad and is meant for those who wish to upgrade their knowledge in this fortnight-long camp.
