Rasikas of music maestro late M D Ramanathan are back to celebrating a remembrance day in Tripunithara, Ernakulam district, Kerala on April 11 evening.

MDR, as he was known was less celebrated in his life time. He taught at Kalakshetra. He passed away in 1984. In some ways, he seems to have earned greater respect after his demise.

His devoted fans in Kerala have keenly celebrated him and his work.

R. Krishna Moorthy has hosted the annual celebrations on his own steam and this year, the event is at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, at which senior artiste Neyveli Santhagopalan will perform alongside T K V Ramanujacharlu (violin), Chennai Thyagarajan on mridangam and Uduppa Sridhar on ghatam.

Chemprol Raja R. Varma is the chief guest.
