A special event is to be held in the seaside town of Vishakapatnam in the south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh to honour the celebrated veteran dance guru Vempati Chinna Satyam.
The event is to be held on April 29 evening at the Kala Bharathi auditorium.
Over 14 local arts organisations here have come together to host this event. The guru of Kuchipudi dance will be felicitated and wellwishers will shower gold coins on him.
Now 81 and based in Chennai, Vempati Chinna Satyam is restricted to a wheel chair but he will fly to Vishakapatnam to be present at this special event.
Kuchipudi artistes, patrons of art and well wishers have been invited.
The convenor is Dr. S. Vijaykumar, a well known industrialist.
Incidentally, April 29 is World Dance Day.
Vempati Chinna Satyam runs a dance academy here which is located on four acres of land near the seaside.
