New book Balasaraswati's Bharatanatyam Technique
 

On the occasion of the 102nd birth anniversary function of scholar Dr. V. Raghavan, two books published by Dr. V. Raghavan Centre for Performing Arts were released in Chennai.

One was 'Readings from the Bhagavad Gita by Dr. V. Raghavan.

The other will interest dancers and dancer scholars.

"Journey through a Tradition : Kandappa - T. Balasaraswati Bharatanatyam Technique". The original book in Tamil was written by Dr. V. Raghavan more than 50 years ago.

This is an English translation by his daughter Nandini Ramani who is one of the senior disciples of the late Bala.

She has added two new chapters titled (1) Dr. V. Raghavan's Contribution to a unique Natya sampradaya and (2) The Bala Legacy.

The foreword for the book is by Prof. C.V. Chandrasekhar, The book is priced at only Rs. 170.

The book was released by Prof. Sudharani Raghupathy; the first copy was received by S. Janaki, Executive Editor of Sruti magazine in the presence of Jayant Kastuar, Secretary, Sangeet Natak Akademi.
