Tharanginee is a Bharatanatyam dance school run by Shobana Bhalchandra, the youngest of the Trio Sisters. Now it is on the eve of celebrating its silver jubilee with a special event in Chennai, its home.
Tharanginee, is her brainchild. This dance school, headquartered at Chennai, imparts training in its pure form. The courses are designed to suit fulltime as well as part-time dancers.
Tharanginee's founder says that she has and will provide focussed and intense training to students at her academy. Shobanaa has also started using technology to keep in touch with her students living abroad. She conducts live one-to-one classes on online video. This helps her students to retain their skill levels even when they are not in Chennai.
This year marks the 25th year of the dance school and the guru and her sishyas are celebrating the silver Jubilee on August 22. 2013. To commemorate the celebrations, the academy is to present a production called 'Patti Sonna Kadaigal'. The chief guest for the evening is Dr. Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director of Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai.
The show is to be held at The Music Academy, Chennai and starts at 6:30pm.
On this occasion, R. Krishnaswami, secretary of Narada Gana Sabha, Chennai will honour three very senior dance gurus, the Dhananjayans and Kalanidhi Narayanan. These gurus have also taught and guided Shobana Bhalchandra.
