Karnataka Gana Parishat golden jubilee festival

Karnataka Gana Parishat based in Bengaluru and formed in December 1969 is celebrating in a grand manner its folden jubilee with a unique festival that starts in Bengaluru on February 1, 2020.

There are academic sessions as well as conc erts by the best artistes. The jubilee celebration is from Feb. 1st to 16th and is to be held at Pathi Sabhangana, N R Colony, Bengaluru.

The Parishat confers the title of Ganakalabhushana every year on a senior vidwan and the title of Ganakalashree on young music artistes.

The famed violinists, the Mysore Brothers - Mysore M. Nagaraj and Dr. Mysore M. Manjunath are to be honoured with the title "Ganakalabhushana". The expert's committee chairman for the conference is vidushi Dr. T. S. Sathyavathi.
Kanjira vidwan Guruprasanna will preside over this year's youth conference along with ghatam vidwan Giridhar Udupa and they will be honoured with the "Ganakalashree" awards at the finale.

The inauguration on Feb.1 is from 10 am onwards and awards function on Feb.16, 10 am onwards.

This year, the Parishat will honour 50 vidwans, a few everyday at the festival.

The golden jubilee is a big celebration. Rasikas and artistes will be served food through the day on all days of the fest. The bill is big and vidwan R. K. Padmanabha, a senior vocalist and the president of the Parishat says donors are welcome to make donations even now.
