DakshinaChitra marks 20 years with cul-fest: Chennai

DakshinaChitra, a living history museum and centre for south Indian arts, culture and architecture located on the outskirts of Chennai is presenting the fifth edition of its annual music and dance festival, Utsavam 2020, on March 6, 7 and 8 in Chennai.

The fest also marks 20 years of this unique institution. 

 This year’s theme is 'on the future of the arts through a exploration by the Gen-Next artistes who represent Southern India’s traditional, evolving and priceless art forms', says a note from the curator.

 This year, it is partnering with Kalakshetra Foundation. 

All the morning sessions - which are essentially spoken word and discussions - will take place at the Kalakshetra Foundation campus in Thiruvanmiyur and the evening sessions - performances - will take place at DakshinaChitra in Muttukadu on East Coast Road.

The performances include Gaana and HipHop concert, Yakshagana, Andhra Natyam, Koodiyattam and Kattaikoothu recitals by well-known artistes and troupes from across south India.
