  Wikipedia Takes Chennai - a scavenger hunt and free content photography in Chennai.All Wikipedians and non-Wikipedians were invited to participate in team of up to three to compete to take photographs of as many local sights as possible for Wikipedia articles. Aug. 20 / Thursday Opening of photo exhibition - 'Temples of Chennai' - Madras Photographic Society and Alliance Francaise. Open till end of month. Alliance Francaise, Nungambakkam.
  Workshop, recreating the colourful Tamil kolam art tradition, by Sindhu Suresh. At Vanilla Children Place, 8/57 Luz Avenue, Mylapore.

Aug. 21 / Friday  ‘Treasure in the Trees’, a series of exciting games such as plai pandu, kai bambaram, oodhu kai and karandi aatam using fruits, leaves and seeds indigenous to Chennai. Conducted by Kreeda for children. At Sri Parvathi Gallery on Eldams Road, Alwarpet.

  ‘Happy Birthday Madras’ - celebrating with children; Namma Oor Fashion, a Madras fashion show of the 1940s and '50s organised by P. Krishnamurthy, national award winning art director and artist. At Gallery Sri Parvati, 28/160 Eldams Road, Alwarpet. 5 pm.
  Poster competition for school students on ‘Environment of Madras’. Conducted by Prakriti Foundation. Selected entries will be displayed during Madras Week and the five best entries will receive prizes. At Alliance Francaise, Nungambakkam.
